Vaccinations

A vaccination plan ensures your canine companion remains protected against diseases.

By vaccinating your dog, you are protecting them from a variety of diseases that are unique to their species. Here at Clappison Animal Hospital, we provide individualized vaccination protocols for your dog based on their life stage and lifestyle.

What types of vaccinations do you offer for adult dogs?

We offer vaccinations against Distemper, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, Canine Hepatitis Virus, Lyme disease, Leptospirosis, Bordatella, and Rabies, which is required by law regardless of lifestyle.

These vaccines are given based on lifestyle and will be determined by the veterinarian at their appointment. We pride ourselves in making sure that all pets are vaccinated appropriately at each appointment.

Our goal is to assess immunization requirements at each annual exam and provide the needed protection with as few vaccines as possible.

Is there a schedule for how often to vaccinate a dog?

Most canine adult vaccines will be given as needed when determined at their annual physical exam. Each and every one of our patients is a distinct individual with their own specific needs; after consultation with you, our veterinarians will discuss a vaccination schedule that is right for your dog’s lifestyle, age and breed.

Why is it important to vaccinate your dog?

Vaccines are an easy and inexpensive means of prevention for diseases that are often costly to treat, or are deadly to your dog. Vaccinations are safe for your pet and when given on an appropriate schedule provide very complete immunity. The vaccines are targeted at potentially serious illnesses, such as Parvovirus and Distemper. Because dogs can become infected easily, exposure rates to other vaccines should be given to compensate for their lack of infection control.

How much do dog vaccinations cost?

Every dog’s lifestyle is unique, so please call the clinic to discuss appropriate vaccines for your pet.
